General]
I finally put up a faire-esque pic of myself. It's my latest corset for my new and dare I say, permanent persona: Scout Elkshire! Oh, I should post on my new persona so I have it handy when I need to look back and tweek here and there. First the corset: cotton blend with peach lining. About six layers of cotton interfacing, zip tie boning in the front with metal grommets (that will eventually be covered in black when I get the time). The back has two pointed tails ending with tassles. The collar is lacing in the back, giving it a keyhole effect. It is cut a little higher on my waist, not even close to reaching my true waist. I love this bodice!
Ok, now for the basic Scout info (basically so I have in writing someplace I can go back and check!). If anyone reads this: please don't tell me it's all inaccurate and what not-I know it is! But it is just for good natured fun and who is really going to sit and ask me my history at faire? ^_^
Name: Selene "Scout" Elkshire
Occupation: Outlaw, an honorary member of Robin Hood's Merry Men
Family: Grandmother: Alys (Sister of Philip II of France), Grandfather: Henry II of England. Father: Henry (the illegitatment son of Henry II who found himself master of the estates and villages of Elkshire). Mother: Lady Claire
Personality: Outwardly, Scout has a very playful almost flirty spirit. She loves to laugh and tease. She's almost carefree and takes advantage of the privilege of her birth. To those who know her, Scout is clever and rather troublesome. She's smarter than she'll ever let anyone know and a force to be reckoned with when she's been pushed. Generally, Scout is compassionate, with a big heart for anyone who suffers with a stubborn and strong will.
Basic History: Scout is the youngest of five siblings: two boys and two elder sisters. Her father, Sir Henry Elkshire wedded Lady Marianne and shortly after gave birth to the first of three children: James, Olivia and Gwyneth. Marianne was a shrewd and unpleasant woman and her death a few years after Gwyneth's birth was not mourned for long. Shortly after, Sir Henry married Claire, a baron's eldest daughter. She gave him his favorite children: Stephen and Selene.
The youngest and one of two favorites of her father, Scout was allowed freedoms that her older sisters did not enjoy. She often spent her days with her brother, Stephen who was only ten months her senior. She earned her nickname from their tutor after she tracked down his lost dog. Unusually, Scout was allowed to learn how to read and write and sat in on her brothers' fencing lessons, taking up a stick to pretend herself when the tutor was not watching.
With Scout as the only child left, Sir Henry could not bare to marry her off, to see her leave him alone which suited Scout fine, she had little patience to settle down for long. It was her adventurous spirit that kept her moving and unpredictable, undesirable in a noble wife.
Sir Henry relocated closer to Nottingham, setting up a steward to govern his prosperous lands in his absence. He travels there often, leaving Scout alone to adventure. It was on one of this adventures that she happened across the Merry Men of Robin Hood. They caught her spying but she managed to impress them enough that they introduced to her Robin, who, although did not take an instant liking to her, found himself persuaded by Maid Marian to give Scout honorary status.
